Existing situation

The AGD Agrar GmbH Dorfilm is located in the middle of the Thuringian Slate Mountain Range in Saalfeld-Rudolstadt, Thuringia.

As an agricultural production company, it processes its own animal products. In addition to dairy farming, pig farming and fattening facilities, the raised bulls and fattened pigs are slaughtered and processed in the company’s own butcher’s shop and also marketed directly on the location.

In order to be allowed to discharge the incurring wastewater into the municipal sewage treatment plant, discharge conditions defined by the responsible administration association were specified.

Above all, a substantial reduction of the organic dirt load as well as the regulation of the pH-value was required.

In June 2021, the order for preparing a basic evaluation for new construction of the wastewater pre-treatment plant was placed with utp umwelttechnik GmbH.

Project details / solution by utp

The incurring butchery wastewater flows via a gravity pipe into an upstream sand trap. For this purpose, the existing grease separator system was converted accordingly and continued to be used.
As next step, the wastewater enters a free-standing 10-foot container in which it is fed to a drum screening plant. There, a mechanical coarse material removal takes place.

Afterwards, the pre-treated wastewater flows into a 20 m³ underground plastic tank. This is used to equalize and buffer the resulting production wastewater.

Depending on the level, the following dissolved air flotation (DAF) is fed fully automatically from there. This includes pH neutralization as well as the addition of flocculation and flotation aids. Necessary additives are added fully automatically from bulk packs and a polymer mixing station.

Ein Teil des bereits gereinigten Abwassers wird im sogenannten Recyclingverfahren mittels einer Mehrphasenpumpe kontinuierlich und unter hohem Druck mit Luft gesättigt. Anschließend wird das Luft-Wasser-Gemisch in den Flotationsreaktor zurückgeführt.
Durch die Druckentlastung entstehen feine Gasblasen, welche sich an den abzuscheidenden Stoffen (Flotat) anheften und diese aufschwimmen lassen. Das Flotat wird im oberen Teil des Reaktors gesammelt, aufkonzentriert und automatisch in einen unterirdischen Flotatspeicherbehälter abgeleitet. Das vorgereinigte Abwasser wird nun vergleichmäßigt in den kommunalen Kanal eingeleitet.

The complete flotation plant, consisting of flotation reactor, pump, dosing and control technology, is housed in a 20-foot technology container. In order to increase operational reliability, the complete system is equipped with a PLC control unit, which enables remote monitoring and remote access.
